Dubai: Any driver in the UAE is deeply aware of how much it costs to go over the stipulated speed limit of the road or forget to pay for parking. Traffic fines in the UAE are an essential way through which authorities ensure the safety of motorists and commuters. If, through bad fortune or sheer bad driving skills, you do happen to rake up a few fines, here are the different ways in which you can pay them.
###
Online payment
######
You will need a credit or debit card to make payments through a website. The Ministry of Interior offers the service on its website but individual emirates also have their own websites that you can use to pay fines that you have received within the UAE. Here is a list of all the official government websites that allow payment of traffic fines:

What about the discount I am entitled to?
###
When you log in to any of the smart systems, you will be given the amount you need to pay in fines. If a discount has been announced by the police authorities of an emirate, the new price will be reflected here.
###
###
But, what happens if you need to renew your car’s registration and you would like to avail a discount as well? Speaking to Gulf News earlier this year, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, chief of Dubai Police, said: “Individuals can go to registration centres and decide whether or not to pay traffic fines immediately. Individuals can choose the amount of fines they want to clear. However, if they don’t commit a traffic offence, they don’t have to pay anything till February 2020.” You can read the full report here.
######
Are there any fines I cannot pay online?
###
Yes, there might be cases in which the violation has received black points. Read up on all the 139 traffic violations in the UAE here.
###
If you have received a black point/s you would need to present your driver’s licence so that the black points can be registered on the licence. While you may need to visit the traffic department in such cases, some emirates have started offering the service online, with users expected to key in their licence details to pay the fine online.
